    1. [BRK] Binfield PRs - Questions about LONG and ATTY in mid-1700s.
    2. Therese Family
    3. Following on from my purchase of the 1801 census for Binfield, I have a number of questions, mainly as a result of trying to cross-check the names with those listed on IGI.  Very confusing and I am hardly any the wiser!   I have a number of questions about the LONG and ATTY/ATEE/ATEY/etc families:   1.  Could anyone with access to the Binfield PRs take a look at the marriage of William LONG and Elizabeth ATTY, apparently on 23 Oct 1775 according to IGI, and see whether there is any information on which parish the two parties were from, how old they were or whether they were widow(er)s and so-on.   2.  Is there any sign of the LONG family in the Binfield PRs prior to 1775?   3.  ATTY/ATTEE/ATEY etc seems to be an almost entirely northern English name.  However, there was an ATTY etc family in Binfield during the 1700s according to IGI.  It seems quite probable that Elizabeth ATTY c1755ish (above) was from Binfield but I can't find her from IGI.    In fact, the IGI transcriptions for ATTY etc in Binfield are pretty hard to follow, with Honour transcribed as Hannah, apparently "wrong" combinations of husbands and wives in christening details and so-on.    Would anyone with access to the Binfield PRs be prepared to check the correct details of ATTY etc christenings and marriages between about 1700 and 1765 for me?  I'd be very grateful!    There are probably 20 records at most.  The weirdest one on IGI is Eleanor Leacha ATTY chr. 18 Jan 1739, mother Anne ATTY. My offer to check names in the 1801 census for Binfield still stands, by the way.    Many thanks!   Therese. --- On Thu, 28/1/10, berkshire-request@rootsweb.com <berkshire-request@rootsweb.com> wrote: From: berkshire-request@rootsweb.com <berkshire-request@rootsweb.com> Subject: BERKSHIRE Digest, Vol 5, Issue 17 To: berkshire@rootsweb.com Date: Thursday, 28 January, 2010, 8:01 Please remember to cut out irrelevant text if you reply to this digest.
