    3. I cannot see a likely James Cox in the Berkshire Buriel Index (there are a lot of them !) Where was his wife buried ? he must have been buried somewhere so a trawl of the local parish registers would seem to be your next step !! Elizabeth

    3. Elizabeth, Thank you for looking in the Berkshire Burial Index for my James. His name seems to have been a fairly common one in that area and that time. At this stage I do not know where his wife is buried as I have not yet obtained her death certificate. I was hoping to find the death of James and apply for the both of them at the same time. Her death was registered in Windsor if that is any help. In the 1881 Census Ann and James were living in Montague Cottages (which were close to the Bricklayers Arms) in the Civil Parish of Town/Village Clewer, Rural Sanitary District of Windsor, Eclesiastical Parish of St.Andrew. I can only presume they were still living there when she died in 1883. Do you know what happens to a person living in the Workhouse when they die, does the Workhouse have it's own graveyard or are they buried in the local cemetery? Again my thanks.
