Colleagues The next meeting of the Oxfordshire Family History Society will take place on Monday 22 February 2010. It will be held at the usual venue at Exeter Hall, Oxford Road, Kidlington, Oxford OX5 1AB. Doors open at 7.15 pm for coffee, help with both genealogy and computers, and the bookstall. The subject of the talk at 8.00pm is "The Wesleyan Methodist Historic Roll – an underused source for family historians", which will be presented by Richard Ratcliffe. I'm told that the presentation looks at the Wesleyan Methodist Historic Roll, which contains the names of over one million people who contributed to the Wesleyan Methodist Twentieth Century Fund between 1899-1904, and whose names can be found in fifty volumes at Westminster Methodist Central Hall. Richard's talk will include references to Volume 10, which contains the names of donors in the Oxford District. Richard Ratcliffe has been a member of Oxfordshire FHS since soon after its formation. After retiring as a primary school headteacher in 1995, he has served on the Methodist Council and also been part-time archivist at Westminster Methodist Central Hall, as well as taking family history classes, giving talks to family history societies and other groups and getting involved in the setting-up of the Family History Partnership. All members, potential members and their guests are welcome.
