    2. >From The Morning Post and Gazetter ( London, England ), Tuesday, July 21, 1801; Issue 10264. ASSIZES. On Saturday se'nnight the Hon. Baron THOMPSON and the Hon. Justice LAWRENCE opened their commission at Abingdon, for holding the assizes for the county of Berks, when James DORMER , John LADWICK , and William SUMPTER , were capitally convicted, and received sentence of death. DORMER , who was tried for being concerned with Richard ALDER , in the murder of John ROBINSON , hawker and pedlar, by shooting him through the head, near the Fleece Inn, Cookham, Berks, was executed at Reading on Thursday morning last; but LADWICK , who was found guilty of felony, and SUMPTER , of sheep stealing, were both reprieved.
