Thank you for that interesting item. Half of Maidenhead was recorded as Cookham in 1801 (the other half being recorded as Bray), and The Fleece Inn stood on Folly Hill (now Castle Hill), Maidenhead. The name of the inn was later changed to The Folly when the landlord was prosecuted for selling short measure in 1812. It was changed again and is now The Windsor Castle. www.royalmaidenhead.co.uk
