    3. Hi Katie, I am indebted to you for your kind help. This particular family is not connected to my own (as far as I know) but is part of a mystery puzzle that I am gradually piecing together for my name study concerning the son George. His life clearly takes a turn and he ends up in Hampshire as a seaman; his families after him retain a naval connection travelling on to Devon thence to Birkenhead in Cheshire. So, if anyone here knows of a different destiny for this George I should be most interested. He is my only candidate for George Strange in the 1851 census in Portsea - pensioner from marines, born c 1806 Bottley (sic), Berkshire. He was at sea in the 1841 census. (1851 Ref HO107; Piece: 1657; Folio: 171; Page: 13) My known origins in Berkshire are the STRANGE's of Long Wittenham: John c1570-? + Jone ?-1625.... William 1595-1668 .... Richard 1635- 1718 .... Adam 1684-1753 .... John 1717-1780 .... John 1750-1809 .... John 1778 (Caversham)-1845 who left Long Wittenham, and Berkshire, for Henley on Thames in Oxfordshire.
