In a message dated 15/02/2011 05:02:25 GMT Standard Time, neil.hearn3@bigpond.com writes: I have discovered a monumental inscription record on the Kent Archaeology site for a George LUKER which indicates that he was from Faringdon, Berkshire. He died in 1845 at around the age of 35 years. He was recorded in the 1841 census as a Surgeon, aged 30, who was born outside County Kent. I would appreciate any help with finding his parents, birth details and/or siblings please. Dear Jan The incomplete Oxfordshire Baptism Index 1538-1851 has a George LUKER, son of George Thomas and Elizabeth, baptised at Faringdon in 1807. Meanwhile, the Oxfordshire Baptism Index contains a huge number of other LUKER baptisms at Faringdon. The parish registers of Faringdon might contain more details of this baptism. They have been transcribed and index by the members of this society, and are available on CD. For further details, please see _www.ofhs.org.uk_ (http://www.ofhs.org.uk) . Best wishes.
