Hi I am hoping someone can interpret a Census for me please. Referring to the 1841 Census for Berkshire as available in FindMyPast a Household Transcription in *RG number:* HO107 *Piece:* 19 *Book/Folio:* 10/4 *Page:* 8 shows a Rebekah STRATTON (b1801) living at Stanford in the Vale. Amongst the other three inhabitants there is an unnamed Male and two others. My problem is that I am unable to read the image to try and work out what is actually written for the male. I think the age may be wrong as it is out of sequence. If I have not given you enough info to enable you to locate the entry please let me know. Looking at Ancestry I cannot even find the entry. Can anyone else find it? With thanks Garry Auckland. Hi Gary >From Ancestry (as you gave the census page reference you can search for just that you know, select Census > 1841 and enter the reference) Name: Rebekah Statton Age: 40 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1801 Gender: Female Where born: Berkshire, England Civil parish: Stanford Hundred: Ganfield County/Island: Berkshire Country: England Registration district: Faringdon Sub-registration district: Buckland Neighbors: View others on page Piece: 19 Book: 10 Folio: 4 Page Number: 8 Household Members: Name Age Rebekah Statton 40 George Statton 15 Joseph Statton 20 Thomas Statton 3 HO107; Piece 19; Book: 10; Civil Parish: Stanford; County: Berkshire; Enumeration District: 6; Folio: 4; Page: 8; Line: 15; GSU roll: 241200. My interpretation would be Rebekah STRATTON or STATTON 40 Ind Y George do 15 do Y Joseph do 20 Grocer Y Thomas do 3 Y (Y = born in County enumerated) Ind = of Independent means, a sweeping catchall that could mean living on an income or simply existing I would not worry about one person being out of sequence , its nothing unusual You will be aware that ages in 1841 are rounded down for those above 15, so Rebekah could be 44 down to 40, George could be 19 down to 15, Joseph 24 to 20 Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Hi > > I am hoping someone can interpret a Census for me please. > > Referring to the 1841 Census for Berkshire as available in FindMyPast a > Household Transcription in > *RG number:* > HO107 *Piece:* > 19 *Book/Folio:* > 10/4 *Page:* > 8 > > > shows a Rebekah STRATTON (b1801) living at Stanford in the Vale. > Amongst the other three inhabitants there is an unnamed Male and two > others.
