If you have shipwrights, ropemakers or Parrott, Perrott, or other variants of the name in your family you may be interested in the next meeting of the P-rr-tt Society which will be held in Chatham and Rochester over the weekend of June 10th - 12th. Local members may like to come and listen to the talk on Chatham Dockyard that will be given by Philip MacDougall on Saturday at 1.30pm. We shall then be moving to the historic Dockyard (group rate for admission). Or why not join us for a 30-minute ride on the paddle steamer the Kingswear Castle, departing Rochester Pier at 12 noon on Sunday. Lunch has been booked in the Cathedral tearooms in time to join the Sunday afternoon walking tour of Rochester and the buildings immortalised by Charles Dickens. Full details are available on the Society's web site at www.p-rr-tt.org.uk Meals can be booked and anybody is welcome to attend for all or part of the weekend. Please email me off list if you are interested. Hilary
