    3. you need to check a Find my past - which has search on military records. It would help if you found him on census before you look so that you know when he was born. Military records are not complete on this or any other site as many were destroyed so you may not actually find anything for him - though it is worth checking regularly tp see if he features in an update of the records. You could also try Access to Archives use the advanced search to ensure you get only Benjamin Ward and not every Benjamin and Ward they have Wendy -----Original Message----- From: James Ward Sent: Saturday, September 03, 2011 9:30 PM To: Berkshire@rootsweb.com Subject: [BRK] Benjamin WARD On September 30 1832 Sarah Ward was christened at Clewer Parish, BRK. 3. Hi Jim, I quickly checked an 1835 Army list and cannot find any trace of Major Benjamin Ward - so assuming my list is correct he may have left the army or be deceased by 1835 So I'd suggest checking the National Archive Website http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/britisharmyofficerbefore1913.htm?WT.lp=rg-3140 Hope this helps Best Regards Richard Heaton -------------------------------------------------- From: "James Ward" <Jimone2@telepak.net> Sent: Saturday, September 03, 2011 9:30 PM To: <Berkshire@rootsweb.com> Subject: [BRK] Benjamin WARD > On September 30 1832 Sarah Ward was christened at Clewer Parish, BRK. 2. Hi Jim Try also the London Gazette... you may be able to piece together some of his career from promotion announcements http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/ However his occupation of Farrier doesn't seem consistent with his position of Major. I could be wrong but I thought they were separate ranks MOIRA FIDLER -----Original Message----- From: James Ward Sent: Saturday, September 03, 2011 9:30 PM To: Berkshire@rootsweb.com Subject: [BRK] Benjamin WARD On September 30 1832 Sarah Ward was christened at Clewer Parish, BRK. 3. Hi Jim See the National Archives research guides http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/research-guide-listing.htm Where you will find <http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/research-guides/british-army-officers-commissions.htm> To the best of my knowledge no officers records are available online so would need a personal visit or a researcher at Kew I did not find him listed in the 1832 Army list so perhaps he may be using a previous rank when Sarah was baptised I see he also married at Clewer in 1819 and there was a daughter in 1821 , Mary, have you checked for an occupation on those I have not found any other mention of him so far Have you found him in the census at any time ?
