Dear Jan The incomplete Oxfordshire Baptism Index 1538-1851 has a George LUKER, son of George Thomas and Elizabeth, baptised at Faringdon in 1807. Meanwhile, the Oxfordshire Baptism Index contains a huge number of other LUKER baptisms at Faringdon. The parish registers of Faringdon might contain more details of this baptism. They have been transcribed and index by the members of this society, and are available on CD. For further details, please see _www.ofhs.org.uk_ (http://www.ofhs.org.uk) . Best wishes. 2. Jill Muir
    3. Hello Gary, Yes the name is used medically as Brad has pointed out, but there is more to this than that one usage. Mellitus was a Saint and Melitus is also used as a Surname and given name http://www.saintmellitushanwell.org.uk/History.html St Mellitus (died 24 April 624) was the first Bishop of London, the third Archbishop of Canterbury. So I would search in Dictionaries of Christian and Surnames and see if you can find others of this name. Do you know if the other names, Sims and Cripps are family names?
