Hi My interest starts from Hannah Woodley who was born June 1828 in Crowmarsh Gifford and who later married Richard Digweed Warwick (or who didn't because no marriage recored can be found) who had 6 children with him and who died in 1912. Her parents were (probably) Edward Woodley (1800-1874) and Eliza Readings (1806-1882 ish). And Edward's parents were James Woodley (1750- ) and Esther Allum (1758- ). James's father was William Woodley (1714- )and his John (1696- ) Do these ring any bells with you? Hello Berkshire, its long time since I was last on this list. I have a 6th Gt Grandmother named Sarah nee Lowden who at some point in her life married a Mr Lake with whom she had children, followed by a marriage to Thomas Joyner in 1717 in St. James Westminster and she died in Sunning in Berkshire in 1745. I have Sarah's (Joyner) Will which mentions son Henry Lake and his 3 children and her daughter Ann's 2 orphan children, plus a brother Thomas Lowden and a sister Mary Pitt. On the IGI I have found a family of children with the parents Sarah and William Lake all baptised/born in Wokingham Berkshire between 1679 and 1692 including a Henry and an Ann. However I cannot find a birth or marriage for Sarah Lowden so cannot tell if this family is hers although it would seem to agree with the fact that I know my Sarah Lake had a son Henry Lake, and a daughter Ann Lake (who married my 5xGt Grandfather)as mentioned above. I know Sarah Lake was in Gravel Pitts, Kensington in 1722 with her daughter Ann as I have a will mentioning the fact. (To complicate matters Ann was allegedly the daughter of Sarah's liason with General Henry Lumley!!) If anyone can find me Sarahs birth and her marriage to Mr Lake I would be delighted and so grateful. Many thanks Eileen. http://www.epfranchi.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/page1.htm

Dear Nivard Where did Ernest Cope get all that money .....? Mystery solved..... Ernest's death certificate records his occupation, not as a cabinet maker that we already knew when he boarded in London as a 30 year old but at his death he was - a farmer. Obviously, it still begs the question where did he get the funds to finance such an undertaking - he died 56 years of age -just 26 years later. Living at 24 Victoria Road, Tilehurst, in the middle of Reading, he must have sold up - made a nice return it seems given the value of his will in todays currency (200,000 approx pounds). Is there any way we can locate records which might confirm where in fact he farmed and when he sold and for how much?
