Berkheiser, 89, formerly of New Bridgeville, entered into rest at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, at York County Nursing Home. Miss Berkheiser worked at the House of Windsor, from where she retired. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, New Bridgeville; and a former member of Red Lion Grange. She was born in Lancaster County August 1, 1914, the daughter of the late Austin and Annie (Williams) Berkheiser. She leaves three sons, Jacob L. Heffner and his wife, Betty of Red Lion, Preston L. Herbst and his wife, Jeane of Wrightsville and Lamar "Sonny" Kline and his wife, Darlene of York; a daughter, Charlene A. Zeigler and her husband, George of Dallastown; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Luther Berkheiser of Windsor; three sisters, Nora Gemmill and Sally Silar, both of York, and Fannie Graham of Craley; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Lester Heffner, who died in 1996. Viewing is from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Burg Funeral Home Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. Service is 7 p.m. Tuesday the funeral home with her pastor, the Rev. Steven E. Thomas, officiating. Burial will be in St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Born on 30 May 1933 in Dallastown, PA. Norma J. died in Pennsylvania on 28 Mar 2008, she was 74. Buried on 2 Apr 2008 in Bethlehem (Stonepile) U.M.C. Cemetery, PA. WINDSOR Norma J. (Grothe) Berkheiser, 74, entered into rest following a lengthy illness on Friday, March 28, 2008, at 3:55 p.m. She was the wife of Luther W. Berkheiser, with whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage on July 29, 2007. Mrs. Berkheiser was born in Dallastown, May 30, 1933, the daughter of the late Edward C. and Nettie M. (Sutton) Grothe. She was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Sue V. Grothe of York and Sandy L. Crumling and husband, William of Red Lion; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Anthony Grothe of York; one sister, Betty Druck of Red Lion; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Todd A. Grothe in 2002; three brothers, Paul, Charles and Wilmar Grothe; and one sister, Kathryn Bull. Alva B. "Bud" Perry Jr. Alva B. 'Bud' Perry, Jr. YORK Alva B. 'Bud' Perry, Jr., 81, died Saturday, September 25, 2004 at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Sally A. (Berkheiser) Silar Perry to whom he was married for 6 years on January 3, 2004 and the late Virginia (Cusick) Perry. Born August 29, 1923 in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Alva B. and Florence M. (Wright) Perry. He was a retired professional painter and was a life member for 55 years of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He attended the former Ebenezer U.M. Church. He was a member of the Overlea-Perry Hall Maryland American Legion Post 130 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Besides his wife, Sally, he is survived by three stepsons, Bruce W. Silar of Wrightsville, Neal E. Silar of Lancaster, Calif., and Lee J. Silar of New Cumberland; five step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Bernice Cusick of Millington, Md.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Service, 700 Hellam St., Wrightsville. The Rev. Albert R. Horst, pastor of Zion United Methodist Church, East Prospect, will officiate. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, East Prospect.
