    3. Hi again everyone! A relative to me, Mike and Mary Kaye passed away. Here's the obituary from the South Bend Tribune. We didn't find out about this until yesterday so the four of us and Aunt Joyce missed the funeral. Rick B -------------------- Prentkowski, Gertrude E. View/Sign Guest Book Nov. 29, 1920 - March 29, 2008 SOUTH BEND - Gertrude E. Prentkowski, 87, of South Bend, passed away at 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2008, in Hospice House, South Bend. Mrs. Prentkowski was born on November 29, 1920, in South Bend, to the late Orb and Bertha (Shawn) Smith. She had been a lifelong resident of South Bend, living in Arizona for five years from 1980-1985. On February 21, 1942, in Seattle, WA, she married Ernest C. Prentkowski, who survives. Along with her husband of 66 years, survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Roger L. and Jeanne Prentkowski of South Bend; two grandchildren, Robert and Kelly Prentkowski of North Liberty, Sandy and Woody Woodiwiss of Osceola; and four great-grandchildren, Taylor and Tori Woodiwiss, Mitchell and Tyler Prentkowski. One sister, Ethel Lawson, preceded her in death. Mrs. Prentkowski retired in 1980 from K-Mart. She was a wonderful homemaker. Mrs. Prentkowski was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, South Bend. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed flower gardening. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 31, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. David Schrader, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Sunday, March 30) in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Gertrude E. Prentkowski may be made to Hospice House, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. Online condolences may be given to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com. Born on 1 Aug 1914 in Lancaster Co., PA. Elizabeth M. died in York County Nursing Home, York Co., PA on 4 Jun 2004, she was 89. Buried aft 4 Jun 2004 in St. Lutheran Cemetery, York Co., PA. Occupation: House of Windsor. Religion: St. Luke Lutheran Church, New Bridgeville, York Co., PA. "The York Daily Record", York, PA June 6, 2004 Elizabeth M. Berkheiser YORK Elizabeth M. Berkheiser, 89, formerly of New Bridgeville, entered into rest at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, at York County Nursing Home. Miss Berkheiser worked at the House of Windsor, from where she retired. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, New Bridgeville; and a former member of Red Lion Grange. She was born in Lancaster County August 1, 1914, the daughter of the late Austin and Annie (Williams) Berkheiser. She leaves three sons, Jacob L. Heffner and his wife, Betty of Red Lion, Preston L. Herbst and his wife, Jeane of Wrightsville and Lamar "Sonny" Kline and his wife, Darlene of York; a daughter, Charlene A. Zeigler and her husband, George of Dallastown; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Luther Berkheiser of Windsor; three sisters, Nora Gemmill and Sally Silar, both of York, and Fannie Graham of Craley; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Lester Heffner, who died in 1996. Viewing is from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Burg Funeral Home Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. Born on 30 May 1933 in Dallastown, PA. Norma J. died in Pennsylvania on 28 Mar 2008, she was 74. Buried on 2 Apr 2008 in Bethlehem (Stonepile) U.M.C. Cemetery, PA. WINDSOR Norma J. (Grothe) Berkheiser, 74, entered into rest following a lengthy illness on Friday, March 28, 2008, at 3:55 p.m. She was the wife of Luther W. Berkheiser, with whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage on July 29, 2007. Mrs. Berkheiser was born in Dallastown, May 30, 1933, the daughter of the late Edward C. and Nettie M. (Sutton) Grothe. She was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Sue V. Grothe of York and Sandy L. Crumling and husband, William of Red Lion; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Anthony Grothe of York; one sister, Betty Druck of Red Lion; and several nieces and nephews.     3. i do not have any information on the luzerne county clan, just that i did work with a john berkheiser at the state prison that would include luzerne county. he retired and died in the 80's. can't be exact since i was no longer in the area. i think he would have been born in the early 1900's. that is the total of my knowledge of john berkheiser. rick b -------------------- Hi Rick! My great grandparents (paternal) were James and Mary (Berkheiser) Webb. They lived in Luzerne County, PA. My grandmother was their daughter Margaret, born around 1902. She had brothers James and Johm and Joseph. Margaret married Roy Rodda Davis around 1921. Too many James Webb is right. I would appreciate any info you might have.
