Prior to 1728 NC was divided into only two counties Albemarle and Bath.Alvemarle was seperated into 6 precints Chowan,Perquimans,Currituck,pasquotank,Bertie and Edgecombe. Bath was divided into 7 precincts Bladen,Beaufort,Carteret,Craven,Hyde,New Hanover and Onslow. I had found records of my John Bennet and his wife Rose and 4 children coming into Perquimans and assumed that it was perquimans county and couldn't find them after 1730. All the counties changed in 1734,1741,1777 and so forth. I hope this helps you fellow researchers.
