Surnames: Bennett, Webster, Charsha, Hall Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BRD.2ACEB/4606 Message Board Post: Recently have found that my ancestor, John Bennett came from Darmstadt, Germany in 1847 at only 1 year of age. Have found his father (another John) lived in Wayne County, PA for most of his life, but he must have moved down to Wilmington, DE at the end of his life as I have found where he was buried. Have also been surprised to find the Bennett surname in German phone books (online.) Seems like most people consider the name English rather than German. Appreciate any comments on German Bennetts(who immigrated to PA/DE) and possible lines this family may have married into... a possibility with my John Bennett (1846-1934) of Wilmington, Delaware is a Neuse family of Wilmington?? I know his wife's father was from Germany as well (I believe Baden) and in the census, have found possible connections....but nothing for sure.
