The elder Lewis Bennett we believe may be our gggg grandfather was born in 1802 and died in 1851 and is buried in Troup Co., GA. The family stayed around Antioch. This line was researched by a cousin, Marlene Meacham Wall, who lives in Ga. She has had the benefit of proximity and family Bibles to prove her theories. There may have been a mistake but so far we have found nothing to disprove it. This Lewis had sons Jones b 1818, Joel b 1820, Jacob b 1821 and David b 1828 all in SC. There could have been others. There is also the tell tale middle name which has been handed down through the generations which helps to solidify the connection. Jacob's middle name was Romaldus. There is a family story handed down with that name. Jones and second wife, Emiline, did have a son named Lewis H. Bennett b 1859 in Troup Co. This may be where the branch of which you speak splits off. Most of these male r! elatives were farmers and carpenters. I would indeed be glad to communicate with anyone who could offer any more information. I can be reached at doors2curry@msn.com. Melanie
