Our Bennetts were in the military and went to New Zealand eventually (about 1856) The best help I can give you is for you to look in the census for one of the more unusual names, and follow through on the occupations and street they lived on. Sometimes its just a block or two away from where they lived as children. Also DO NOT BELIEVE THE TRANSCRIPTIONS< ALWAYS CHECK THE SOURCE AND LOOK AT THE IMAGES OF THE ORIGINAL!!!!!!! There are so many relatives we found because we looked at weird spellings in the transcriptions!. There are many.... Bennett people in the area you are talking about.
