Bennett, BELMONT Saturday, November 2, 2002 BELMONT-Mary Elizabeth Bennett, 96, formerly of High Street, died Thursday. She was born in Belmont, the daughter of Lillian and A. Hayden Jones. She attended Belmont schools, the Tilton School and Plymouth Teacher's College. She worked as a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse on Providence Road in Belmont. Bennett lived in Chelmsford, Mass., and Waltham, Mass., for 12 years, and lived in Belmont since 1942. She summered on Squam Lake for more than 50 years. Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Bennett of Belmont and Marilyn Adams of Santa Clara, Calif. a sister, Dorothy Dow of Loudon; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Her husband, Miles Bennett, died in 1990; and a son, Miles Bennett Jr., died in 1968. Calling hours will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. Memorial services will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m. in the Family Bible Church, Loudon Ridge, Loudon. The Rev. Stephen Ludwick, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow n Loudon Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Miles Bennett Scholarship Fund, c/o Belmont High School 255 Seavey Road, Belmont 03220. Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, Laconia, is in charge of the arrangements. Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are.
