Where was your William H Bennett born? I am trying to trace the parents of my gggrandfather Charles Henry Bennett who was born in 1818 in Steuben County New York and died in Lane County, Oregon. My Wm H Bennett was either born in PA,KY, or OH according to a variety of different sources. He has been very elusive and I doubt I will ever find his family. He first appears in Gallia co OH marrying my great grandmother in 1855. I have never found any indication of parents or siblings. The birth date January 1824 comes from old family papers. Wm H and his family moved to IL then MO then back to IL. He died in Portland OR in 1894. He had sons named William, Joseph, Samuel and David.I am hoping these are family names. However, Jane Howarth his wife, had a father named Joseph and a borther named David so I am thinking William and Samuel are the Bennett family names. But who knows?
