I thank you for your response. We have 4 Loniels in 5 generations. I can get back to Homer, Cortland, NY where my gg grfather was born in 1816. I can not seem to find out the birth place, marriage info, or parentage of his parents Loniel and Sarah. So stuck I am. I have found many of the descendents of Amos in the Cayuga area, close to Homer, but no connection. Another clue is the finding of a David Norton next ot Loniel on both the 1820 Cortland, NY and the 1830 Lake Co, OH census. This is probably Sarah's father, but I can't prove it. I believe that the families came from Conn.
