My Sallie Bennett, ne.Register, was born in North Carolina 11 Sept 1785.She moved to SE Georgia with her husband John Bennett, and died there 11 Oct 1868. My Patterson line has been traced back to Savannah, Ga., thence to Camden County, Ga. Earliest progenitor on which I have any significant info is Nathaniel J. Patterson, born in 1787. I believe his father was a William Patterson. The Bennett Rev. Soldier in my direct line is Thomas Bennett, born in Surry County, Virginia, circa 1740. He migrated to N. Carolina, where he inlisted in the NC Contenental Line in May 1776 and was discharged in Nov 1778. This was the father of the aforementioned John Bennett. The Bennett family was established in the Jamestown area in 1621, owning thousands of acres. If there were any Yankees in our line, no one cared to "fess up"! Looks like we are at a dead end.
