My Bennetts (at least William and Henry Harrison) lived at one time in Virginia -- later West Virginia. But they moved into North Carolina and Georgia before HHB settled in Chambers County, Alabama with his last wife (reportedly his fifth), who was my grandmother. Family lore has it that they moved from around Dublin, Georgia (Laurens/Wilkinson counties), but have never been able to prove this. Some of them at one time lived in Meriwether County, Georgia (near Warm Springs and LaGrange). Also, there were statements that we were part Cherokee -- and two of my Aunts on the Bennett side had definite Indian features (dark skin and hair, high cheek bones) but again none of this was ever proven.
