    3. Susann, why do you think your Bennett came from South Carolina? I am also researching Bennetts. My husband's mother was a Bennett. There are a lot of Bennetts in the York Co., SC area. But in my research, I have also found Bennetts on my side. They were from Eastern North Carolina. There are a number of Williams, but I have been unable to come up with date of birth and haven't tried hard because I have a long way to go to get to them. I sorry I don't have anything, but maybe this will help you look in another direction. Either York Co., SC or upper, eastern NC counties. My line had came down from the Isle of Wright, VA in the early 1800 or late 1700. I am desparate to find information about my WILLIAM BENNETT!! **I guess-timate that he was born around 1830's - based on his age on a census when my ggrandfather was 12. No early census of him can be located!! **I also am guessing that he was actually born in South Carolina and removed to TN in the 1840's - but who was his father and mother??? **I know that his Grand Daughter (my great-aunt) is still living but doesn't know who his parents were - BUT she does have a fabulous drawing of him that you can see on my website (http://www.bencamp.com/wmbennett.htm) **I know that he was in the Civil War from the Coffee County, TN area - can't figure out which regiment though. - there were SO MANY Wm Bennett's in this area! No record of a pension for himself or his wife. **I know that he married MARY A. WILLIAMS in 1852 in Franklin County, TN on August 11 (Have marriage cert) **I know that he was buried on his property in Coffee County, TN in April 1897 (grave marker no longer standing - but great-aunt Nell can point out the grave site!) **I have all of his children's names, etc. 1. Thomas Pinkerton Bennett - born August 12, 1855. Married Minerva Bryant. 2. Hiram Bennett - born October 21, 1856. Removed to Texas. 3. Robert Silas Bennett - born September 26, 1858. 4. Jemina Bennett - born March 11, 1860. 5. William Bennett - born March 19, 1862. Married Mary Ann (Molly) Lovell. 6. Millie Ann Bennett - born June 1, 1864. Married Thomas Duncan. 7. Nancy Jane Bennett - born May 2, 1866. Married Frank Hunt. 8. Drucilla Bennett - born July 29, 1868. Married R.H. Riddle. 9. M.C. (Mallie) Bennett - born August 8, 1870. Married S.W. Waggoner. 10. **Walter Henry Bennett - born July 15, 1872. Died April 10, 1941. Married Nora Elizabeth Lovell. ** My Great-Grandfather!!! Somebody out there MUST know something!!! PLEASE!!! No one in my family (still living) can help me and my hours at the library have lead me around in circles! Thanks for reading - and thanks in advance for any leads you can give me!! I would love to be able to trace William Bennett back to his origins - not only for myself - but to share this with my Great-Aunt Nell. She is so excited that a family member has taken an intrest in our heritage! She just turned 90 - so time is limited.......
