Ruth grew to womanhood in the Athol and Eskridge, Kansas area. She attended the grade schools and graduated from the Eskridge high school. She moved to the Lenora area in 1912 and taught school there from 1912 until 1917. On July 24, 1917, Ruth and Ross BARBO were married at Lenora, Kansas. They made their home in Lenora where they operated "Barbo's Cleaners". Ruth later worked at the Van Diest Grocery Store until her retirement. She was a member of the Lenora United Parish Church. She loved the outdoors and animals and she worked in her yard tending to her flowers. Survivors include: one sister and her husband, Helena and T. H. VAN DIEST, Lenora, Kansas; several nieces and nephews, Marion NUERNBERGER, Lincoln, Nebraska, John VAN DIEST, Lenora, Kansas, Betty CULLEY, Topeka, Kansas, John BENNETT, Topeka, Kansas, Nancy DUCKWORTH, Columbus, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Maude BENNETT; other relatives and many friends.
