Author: Roger_Bourgeois Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.bennett/9305.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The unverified information I have about John Bennett is that he was born about 1720 in Richmond or Richmond County in eastern Virginia and that he married Mary Cox. they moved from eastern VA to Cox's Fort possibly with David Cox (a possible relative of Mary's)in or about 1780. John was killed by Indians in 1787 and Mary then married William May in Nelson Co. KY in 1788. They had three sons; John Basil, Samuel and William. I did not know anything about them travelling down the Ohio River from Yogahania Co., PA. That's a new twist. I also did not know anything about the Isaac Cox Family connection to Mary. Would you be willing to share sources for the Yogahania Co., PA origin of their residence before settling in Nelson Co., KY? I assume it was possible for them to still have been from VA and they travelled to Nelson Co., KY by the Ohio River instead of over land. Travel by the Ohio River would be logical and likely.
