Both born in England, James abt. 1788 and Maria abt. 1805. They moved from NY to NJ between 1845 & 1850. Children (that I know of): 1) Mary Eleanor Bennett b. Mar 25, 1837 in NY, NY, c. May 9, 1837 @ Mariner's Church in NY, NY m. Thomas Stephen Reynolds on May 14, 1862 in Madison, Morris, NJ 2) George Washington Bennett b. Nov 7, 1839 in NY, NY, c. Mar 25 1840 @ Mariner's Church in NY, NY He may have died as a child b/c I have not found him living with his parents and siblings in census records. 3) Jane Maria Bennett b. Feb 17, 1842 in NY, NY, c. Apr 29, 1844 @ Mariner's Church in NY, NY 4) James Bennett b. abt 1845 in NY, NY I have a feeling they probably had more children, some of them possibly born in England. In 1850, the family lived in Chatham, Morris, NJ. Household: James Bennett, 62, farmer, value of real estate: $1,000 Maria Bennett, 45 Mary E. Bennett, 13 Jane M. Bennett, 8 James Bennett, 5 Still living in Chatham in 1860. Household: James Bennett, 72, farmer, value of real estate: $4,000, value of personal estate: $200 Maria Bennett, 55, house work Mary E. Bennett, 22 James Bennett, 15, laborer In 1870, James & Maria were living in New Providence, Union, NJ near daughter Mary Eleanor and her husband, Thomas Reynolds.
