Caroline was also know as Kuini Weevil as her mother Riria married Captain Weevil who informally adopted Caroline Hunt. Child Caroline Elizabeth Bennett was for a short time in her father Bennetts care until he drowned on Rakiura when she was returned to her mother Caroline Hunt who was then married to Charles Goodwillie. She was brought up as the eldest child of this marriage.
