    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Bennett; Morland; Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BRD.2ACEB/6160 Message Board Post: Looking for info on actor/playwright George John Bennett. On London stage for 40 years, under successive managements of Mr Elliston, Charles Kemble, WC Macready (Drury Lane & Covent Gdn theatres). Also at Sadlers Wells with Samuel Phelps and Mrs Warner. Family legend has it he was a friend of (or knew) Charles Dickens. Also info on his parents: George Bennett (born Exeter) and Harriet (or Henrietta) Morland (no further details), aka Mrs Bennett, actors with Norwich Company of Comedians c. 1800. George B was a child actor, so presumably his parents were actors...? My g,g grandmother (George John B's daughter), Miss Fanny Bennett, was the last acting Bennett in this branch (Theatre Royal, Bristol, 1850s). Wd be v interested in any info on earlier or later acting Bennetts connected with this family. Rumour has it the Bennetts owned theatres: have found 2 Bennetts owning theatres (a Henry B, and a John Stokes B), but yet to establish a connection - wd appreciate any leads...

    3. Hello, I have an Isaac bennett born in Tipperary ireland ~1827. He immigrated to Halifax ~1850 and worked as a laborer as noted in the 1851 UK census. By 1861, Isaac was dead but his wife lived in Halifax. In close proximity were two other families of Bennetts whom I assume were brothers to my Isaac. Eventually, some ofthis family immigrated to US. The story is told that two of these, Ike and ---- Bennett were tap dancers in the late 1800's and lived in New York. This is all I know.
