His occupation was listed as a Contractor on his daughter Mary's marriage cert. Mary Bennett b. abt. 1864, Liverpool, m George Roughley b. abt. 1862 Belfast, Ireland, at St Michaels, Walton on the Hill, in the district of Toxteht Park, Liverpool, in 1883. Her father William James Bennett might have died before this date, although he is not recorded as deceased on the cert. On the 1881 census I found a family of Bennetts living at 37 Threlfall Street, Toxteth Park. Ellen Bennett, Head, W, 38 b. Liverpool William Bennett, Son, U, 17 b. Liverpool, Bricklayers Labourer Mary Bennett, Daur, U, 16, b. Liverpool, General Domes Serv Eleanor Bennett, Daur, U, 14, b. Liverpool Sarah Bennett, Daur, U, 9, b. Liverpool Peter Bennett, Son, U, 2, b. Liverpool. I think this is my Mary Bennett's family but can't be sure as the head of the household is widowed.
