Dr Brent Kennedy's controversial and seminal work MELUNGEONS: RESURRECTION OF A PROUD PEOPLE included a short genealogy of his own BENNETTS and is still in print. Some of you already know about it. For those who don't and have relatives from the VA/TN/NC triangle area or nearby states or states where emigrants from those states went, might want to check out his Melungeon BENNETTS. Also although he evidently did not find any of his own relatives with this ancestry, he was aware of Black Indians with the surnames and wrote about that much maligned group here with links for more research. If your BENNETTS had slaves, married Native Americans, or were themselves of mixed ancestry, you might want to check this out.
