I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as the wife of C. P. KNIGHT which was taken at the Smith Photo Co. Studio in Portland, Maine. The photograph appears to have been taken about 1900 with Mrs. KNIGHT likely in her 50's or 60's at the time it was taken. Another name appears on the back of the photograph though I am at a loss to figure out if it is a first name or maybe even the name of a town, it appears to be "Ithculi" or "Itlicuh". Thanks to the help of a KNIGHT Family Researcher I believe that this may be a photograph of Sarah Frances BENNETT KNIGHT. Charles P Knight(s) (b. Feb 1824) married Sarah Frances Bennett (b. Mar 1825) in Portland, Maine in 25 DEC 1849. Per the 1860 census they had Emma Frances (1851), Charlitta (1853), Willis M (1857) and Charles E (1859), Florence M (1862), Grace L. (1865). Charles was a tinsmith. Appears they lived in Wiscasset, Lincoln, Maine for some time. In the 1880 census it would appear that son Charles E. had married a woman named Estella I (b. 1860) and that they had one child, Nettie E in May 1880. They were living with Charles's parents in Wiscasset. By 1900 census Charles and Sarah are alone in Wiscasset. Looks like Charles & Estella moved to Camden, Knox, Maine by then. They had 7 children by the 1900 census. I am hoping to locate someone from this KNIGHT Family so that this wonderful old family treasure can be returned to the family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
Ms. Shelley, you wrote: Another name appears on the back of the photograph though I am at a loss to figure out if it is a first name or maybe even the name of a town, it appears to be "Ithculi" or "Itlicuh". Could this "Ithculi" or "Itlicuh" possible be Ithica, NY or Utica, NY? Just a thought.
