Surnames: Bennett, Bennet, Bennette Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BRD.2ACEB/6271.1 Message Board Post: I found Thomas Bennett, son of John Bennett (no wife listed), and older brother of James and Elizabeth Bennett in Foy, Herefordshire, in the 1841 census. He does not appear again in the 1851 census - but James is listed in the 1851 census of Foy where he is now the owner of his father's estate - which hires many laborers, etc. It's possible that this Thomas Bennett died or moved away for some reason. HOWEVER - it's also quite possible that he had a falling out with his father and brother and moved to America during the 1840s. My Thomas was born in abt 1811. He married in Iowa, Phoebe Creswell (daughter of John W. and Mary Agnes Boal Creswell). Their children were: 1. Dolly Agnes Bennett 2. Mary Elizabeth Bennett 3. John Bennett (my GG grandfather). I suspect that Thomas Bennett of Foy, Herefordshire, is MY Thomas Wood Bennett, but have not been able to find corroborating evidence. I'm asking for help. If anyone in the UK is a descendent of James Bennett, son of John Bennett of Foy, Hereforshire, please contact me. I may participate in a DNA project, too, and that might shed some light.
