Looking for information on the family of Jacob Bennett born ca 1760 and died December 1, 1840 presumably in Wilson Co, TN. This Jacob is the father of Alfred Mc. Bennett, b. 1810, who lived in Marshall Co, TN in 1850 and who migrated to Dallas Co., MO by 1860. This information about Jacob Bennett being the father of Alfred was sent to me recently after many years searching for Alfred's parents. The name of his mother is only listed as either "Marak" or more likely I suspect, Mariah. A check of the 1820 census index shows two Jacob Bennetts in Wilson Co, TN. Only the one listed as Jacob Jr possibly fits the one I'm looking for as he's the only one listed with a male over age 45. Alfred, his son, states on the 1850, 1860 and 1870 census that he was born in NC so the Jacob I'm looking for must have at least lived in NC for a time. Alfred's middle name starts with Mc but I have yet to find out what it might stand for nor have I seen any Bennetts who married females with the last name starting with Mc in the right time period. He was the son of Jacob Bennett. John Bennett married a Rebecca Smith; she died in Aug. 1869. They had a lot of children. John soon remarried to a Minervia Bowyer in Dec. 1869. They had 5 children, the last being Gaiter (b. 1882), my great-grandfather. John died sometime after 1882. Minervia remarries, I think, to a John M. Hill in 1898. She shows up in the 1900 & 1910 census records as a widow. I would like to know where and when John Bennett and Minvervia Bowyer/Bennett/Hill died.
