Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BRD.2ACEB/4314.2.2.2.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Walter, Do you have access to the handwritten copy of the 1880 Randolph County census? The William Bennett in Beat 11, dwelling 18/18 is shown as born in Georgia. It shows that his parents were born in South Carolina. I am attaching a portion of the census showing William Bennett with his wife, Sarah and children; Posey, Sela, William, Amos and Susan. I hope it works. I've been working for some time trying to figure out who Jones Bennett's father was. It's quite a mystery. My line is through Jones' son, John Romaldus Bennett. However, I've been working on the lineage of Jones' other son, William K. Bennett, in hopes of finding descendants who may have a family Bible or some information on Jones' parents. I think Jones Amos Bennett could very well be the grandson of my Jones Bennett. Jones Bennett was in Troup County in 1850, Heard County in 1860; Troup County in 1870; and then moved to Randolph County, Georgia by 1880. Thank you so much for answering. I hope to hear from you soon. Beth

Bennett because I found a descendant of Jones Amos Bennett. and he confirms that his "Amos" and my mother's cousin "James Posey" did indeed operate a Cobbler shop in Troup County. ca 1900 I do believe that William, and William King were likely related, but William King's family - for my Bennetts - makes little sense, because no one has stated any such relation. Initials, and "more Adult" names were added at least in this family tree... Posey Bennett of this census became known as James Posey Bennett in his Grandchild's marriage announcement many years later, after his own death. Thanks... I look, for initials, and ALL related info that I can determine might help ! The 1880 Randolph census William Bennett was from South Carolina...we are interested in that .. and are looking around!

His mother died giving birth to him. Her letter states that he married Eliza (Elizabeth?) Jane Curless. His father, name unknown, was direcvtly from Ireland and gave Stephen 80 acres near springfield, OH as a wedding gift. The letter also states that Stephen's father remarried to a Mrs. Raredon, "mother of two sons. One was a Union Pacific Agent." The letter doesn't state if they were from her first marriage or not. The letter also states that Stephen had only 2 daughters: Sarah Elizabeth and Ida. The letter is quite long and if you waould like any more info, let me know. Jim Butler

Peter lived to be at least ten years of age, but then more or less disappeared. No marked burial or death record exists for him in Elk County, PA; no marriage license or other records exist for him at the Elk County courthouse. Did he die as a child? Did he grow up and move out of the area? Any info appreciated.
