I have come to a dead end with my ancestor, Elizabeth "Betsy" Bennett. Betsy was born circa 1790 in Connecticut. The first record I can find her on was her marriage record. She was married on May 4, 1812 in Bridgeport, Fairfield Co., CT to Reuben Merriman. After the marriage, they moved to Scott Co., KY in 1813, and then in 1829 to Sangamon Co., IL. Betsy died there in 1842. She had children: Lucinda, Lavinia, George, John, Thomas, William, Francis and Robert. Anyway, I beleive Betsy was born in Fairfield County, particularly the Bridgeport area. The only possibility I can find is a Betsy Bennett, born March 7, 1789 in Stratford, CT, to Thaddeus and Martha Bennett. Any help appreciated. On a side note, Betsy's son was named George B. Merriman. I don't know what the "B" stands for, but I assume Bennett is a possibility. Did Betsy have a brother or a father named George Bennett? Thanks! Ryan Wadleigh Seattle, WA

The mother must have died because my G-Father and G-mother Ellen Hamric raised the three children.My mother was Sabina which later change to Bina. I am now researching his elusive Father and Mother. Have death certificate says William and Sarah Wright Bennett.But I have a feeling something is not right here as I can`t fine any thing on them. I didn't get any notification that you had responded to my posting...?? Just happened by and saw this. John Bennett of Hamburg Germany came into this country in either 1847 or 1848. (says both in 2 different census.) He and his wife had 10 children, though only 3 were living as of 1910. I don't know of any connection to a family in Pa. But what happened with his grandchildren off my grgrandmother's siblings' lines, I don't know.
