To bring you up to date, the William Edward Bennett married to Willie Ann Lee you asked about was actually William Elijah Bennett born in 1866 in Mississippi. Willie Ann Lee was his first wife and the children from that marriage were Mable, Hubert, Fairy, Effie, Dale and Edward. After Willie Ann's death, William Elijah (Willie) married Minnie Ione Springer. Their children were Homer, Guy, Miles, Hayes and Thelma. My Maternal Grandfather was Hayes. I remember that your Great Grandmother Mabel was buried the same day that my Paternal Grandfather Foley was buried and that Granddaddy Bennett agonized over either going to Arkansas for Aunt Mabel's funeral or staying in New Albany for Granddad Foley's. We sent him on to Aunt Mabels and your family may remember seeing him there. Grandaddy was the baby of Pa Bennett's 2nd set of children, born when Pa was 46 years old. Aunt Thelma! is the only surviving child of William Elijah Bennett and is in her 90's. Good to hear from you. Bengie Foley

After her husband George died in the Civil War in 1862, she does not appear on any census records that I have researched. Perhaps she remarried, does anyone know where her husband George may be buried? A book by John Martin Dombhart, " History of Walker County Alabama" records that they had five sons, I find that to be in error.

It may not be the right one, but the one I have is Phebe Gandy married to David Casto, Sr. about 1725 in Cape May, NJ. They had a son named David who married Margaret Provence about 1775. David & Margaret had a daughter Phebe who married Moses Bennett in 1800. Moses was in VA, now WV. Hope this helps.

I can not find where our Samuel Bennett was before he turned up in Warren/Edmonson Counties, Ky. His son, Samuel, Jr. was born in 1811. He gives his birth place as N.C. in census records.
