He was on the 1900 census for Hector, Schuyler co., NY with his young wife Edith Wyatt Bennett (b. June 1881) and new baby "Maudie G." Bennett (b. Sep. 1899). I don't think William and Edith stayed married very long, since Edith remarried c.1903. Don't know if William died c. 1902 or left. What is the approx. birth year of your William? Mary Endora Toler dau/Joseph & Frances Dixon Toler married James Lewis Bennet, Dec. 21, 1812, in Pittsylvania Co. VA.. This could be the Polly Toler named because Polly was often a nickname for people named Mary. Also, Ms. Baudean said that surety was William Toler, which could have been either her brother, or her grandfather, as they were both named William Toler. I believe that surety is the same thing as the marriage bond. Polly was over 21 and did not need her father's consent, although he may have approved of the marriage.

My great, great grandmother was Cynthia Bennett, b. 1857/1858 and still living for the 1930 census. Family oral history states that Cynthia was an Onondaga indian married to a white man. 1930 NY Onondaga County, Syracuse, 517 Madison Street, ED# 97 Bennett, Cynthia S. head, rent $25, indian, age 72, widow , William R. grandson, white, age 21 , Kenneth R. grandson, white, age 14 , Arthur E. grandson, white, age 12 , Mary A. granddaughter, white, age 10 (name really Muriel A.) Mary/Muriel was my grandmother. Kenneth and Arthur were her brothers and I assume William was a cousin. Parents of Muriel, Kenneth and Arthur were Ernest and Edythe Johnston Bennett who I have not found in the 1930 census. 1920 NY Onondaga, Syracuse, ED #217 Bennett, Ernest head, white, age 25 , Edith wife, white, age 22 , Kenneth son, white, age 4 , Arthur son, white, age 2 , Muriel dau, white, age 4/12 Ernest was the son of Cynthia Bennett and unknown name of father. Belle was born 25 Mar 1882 to Albert E. and Lydia J. (Flewellin) Angell. Her 1st marriage to a Hill produced daughter Beatrice B: 1898. She then married Benjamin Bennett. They had son Kenneth. They moved to California after 1910. I cannot find her in California. Any help would be appreciated. Albert is my great great grandfather. I can give you info both before and after if there is a connection. The Bennett line I have yet to find because I want to find Belle and family to make sure I have the right one.
