Bennett, 47, of Howell, died on Saturday, July 15, 2006, in Jasper, Fla., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born on Nov. 18, 1958, in Bass, Maine, he was the son of Mary Frances Short Bennett and the late William Edward Bennett Jr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors are his wife, Patricia Diane Phillips Bennett of Howell; sons, William Travis Bennett of Illinois; son, Trinity Aaron Bennett of Valdosta; daughter, Anna Marie Bennett of Lake Park; son, William Edward Bennett III of Howell, and daughter, Constance Dale Bennett also of Howell; 7 grandchildren; his mother, Mary Frances Short Bennett and two brothers, Michael Bennett and David Bennett, all of West Virginia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2006, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Wesley Barrentine officiating. Cora and James were divorced in the 1930's. Cora along with her daughter Dorothy, and perhaps another daughter Corine moved to St. Louis area in the 1930's to be with her parents John and Amanda BENNETT. Cora Elizabeth Bennett remarried John CASS. I don't think that they had children. Cora(Bennett, Smith)CASS died 23 April 1970 in the LEMAY area of St. Louis. Her daughter, Dorothy Smith, might have married a fellow by the last name of STREAM, also from the St. Louis area. Dorothy(Smith) STREAM, probably lives in St. Louis. If anyone is researching BENNETT, CASS, or STREAM aroound St. Louis, or knows of these families, I would like to exchange info, as I have alot of photos of James Clifford Smith's family.

Thomas Hume and his wife, Elizabeth (Watt) Hume came from Wellington County, Ontario to homestead in Pope County, Ben Wade Township, Minnesota, in 1868. The land is right north of where Lowry is now. The town of Lowry was built on part of the farm. Thomas had two cousins living in the area. He came by boat from Owen Sound on Lake Huron to Superior City on Lake Superior.
