    1. [BENNETT] George Washington Moore b abt 1834 GA
    2. Leo Leonard
    3. At the time the 1860 census was taken a George W. Moore b abt 1834 GA whose occupation was given as "carpenter" was enumerated in the household of Lorenzo Dow Price in Randolph Co., GA. Is this the George W. Moore who was the son of Lovel Moore and Elizabeth Bennett? (Source: 1860 Census, Series M653, Roll 135, Page 687, Visit 774) Evidence seems to indicate that Patience Bennett, the wife of Lorenzo Dow Price, and Elizabeth Bennett, the wife of Lovel Moore, were sisters--the children of Aaron Bennett. Thanks, Leo

I am getting wise to transcription errors and have found people that I'd almost given up on when trying a different spelling. I found one family by searching for the witness at their marriage, they were in the same house but their names were wrongly transcribed! I've learnt that every avenue has to be tried. Good luck with your New Zealand Bennetts. Annette

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BRD.2ACEB/6070.1.1 Message Board Post: I wish this was something I could help you with... Our Bennetts were in the military and went to New Zealand eventually (about 1856) The best help I can give you is for you to look in the census for one of the more unusual names, and follow through on the occupations and street they lived on. Sometimes its just a block or two away from where they lived as children. Also DO NOT BELIEVE THE TRANSCRIPTIONS< ALWAYS CHECK THE SOURCE AND LOOK AT THE IMAGES OF THE ORIGINAL!!!!!!! There are so many relatives we found because we looked at weird spellings in the transcriptions!. There are many.... Bennett people in the area you are talking about. If I come across the ones you are looking for, will let you know. Best wishes with your search.

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bill Bennett To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, September 12, 2006 3:40 PM Subject: Mary A Bennett,Georgia 1826 Hi Leo, Sorry to be so late in getting back to you. I am descended from Emanuel County Georgia's Aaron & Elizabeth Bennett's oldest son , John Bennett b. 1800 d. 1873, Patience(who married Lorenzo Price) was his sister. Aaron Bennett is my brickwall, and I can't seem to get beyond him( although I did hear thru DNA from a cousin in NJ, but his family arrived in this country much later from Ireland) I do not have any thing on Mary Ann (Polly)Bennett Price b. 1826 , other than the story she was related to Patience. I have Mary Bennett b.1804 and Mary Anna Bennett b. 1813, daughters of Aaron Bennett. Martha Ann Bennett b. 1842, Anna Bennett b. 1844 daughters of John Bennett. The daughters of John Bennett's brother Benjamin were Elizabeth Ann Bennett b. 1847 and Amanda Bennett b. 1849. And Benjamin Bennett's son Thomas had a Mary Ann Bennett b. 1856 and Lucy Ann Bennett b.1860 The cousins listed below probably have more on the Price's than I. I do not recognize other names but not surprisingly, John appears in later generations who , I think, were on their way to Michigan, settled there until 1850+ and retired eastward to NW Pennsylvania for the Civil War. Family names include his son Abijah, Charles, another Daniel, Arthur Alonzo,John, Wesley, George and later, Edwin and Perry named for an uncle who was named for Commodore Perry of the battle of the great lakes. If any of this seems to have a connection, I would be delighted to hear from you and so would a cousin in Ohio. Andy Johnson descended from the Bennetts of New England
