    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: KatieRennie Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.belt/760.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, I've been looking into Nathan Belt to see if there could be any connection to my Parrish family. What I've found is that Nathan lived in Huntingdon Co, PA thru at least 1810. And as early as 1800. I think it's possible he was related to/the father of John Parrish of Huntingdon's wife. But that's fairly speculative. Both are listed as labourers, both are in Allegheny in 1800 and Springfield in 1810. Also an old genealogy written on the Parrish family in the 1920s claims John's wife as a Sarah Belt, father an unknown John Belt. I'm still not sure where this came from though because itwas not cited. If you're interested, please email me at katerennie4@gmail.com. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: txladyjane Surnames: Belt/Kurz Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.belt/822/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am seeking information on my great aunt. On a 1930 census records she has been listed as "Celia Belt" and from Minnesota and in a 1940 she was listed as "Sadie Belt" from Missouri on both she is listed as born about 1902. Of course there are "residence" records on voter and U.S. city directories that show Sadie Marie. And on the death certificate for her oldest son it has "Saddie Belt/Missouri" so I am assuming this is the correct state she was born in. However this is the only information I have to go by. I was searching online and I found a "findagrave" for a John Kurz and his wife Katheryn Christine Stanger Kurz both list an "adopted daughter" born about 1895 in Minnesota, and the name shows "Sadie Marie Kurz." She was married to William Thomas Belt, Sr. in what year I do not know. Also they had two children William Thomas Belt, Jr. born 14 FEB 1930 and died 01 FEB 1941 of a tragic drowning. He was called Tommy by the family. This is the death certificate I have that shows "Saddie Belt" and a second son named Robert Daniel Belt, called Bobby born on 25 JUL 1931 and died on 24 JUL 1983. The lived in or near Santa Monica California Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: MarilynRoth58 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.belt/745.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Ancestry has the line back from Frank Belt through John R. & Silas to another John Belt, b. ca. 1800. Your Frank was probably the one who registered for the WW I draft, aged 27 in 1917, single, of Munday, WV., b. unknown date in 1889. Lillie had died 3 Dec. 1929, aged 29, & she's buried in Spencer, Roane Co., WV. The WV Death Index says she was 29. Frank, wid., was alone on the 1930 census. He died 7 Feb. 1933, Marion Co., WV. Death record says that John R. Belt & [first wf.] Elizabeth Mills were Frank's parents. John Belt's mother Angeline was with him and his second wife on the 1900 census. Angeline was Angeline Morgan, b. 13 Apr. 1825, d/o David Morgan, wife of Silas Belt (4 July 1821 - 17 Feb. 1899, bu. Belt Cem., Wirt Co.) Google the Belt Cemetery, Wirt County, WV, or use FindaGrave for Silas. In Wirt Co., VA, 1860, BELT: Sylus [Silas], 39; Angeline, 35; Jasper, 17; Salena, 14; John, 12; Oliver, 10; Drusilla, 9; Amanda, 7; Lawson, 5; James, 3; Rachel, 2. There's an online tree that lists the wife of John Belt, b. ca. 1800, as Sarah Belt, daughter of Jeremiah Belt & Ann West, but I do not see how that could be correct. Their dau. Sarah Belt, b. 1797, m1. John Schroeder, as shown by her father Jeremiah's probate in 1819. Probate named a son and eleven daughters! The 1850 census shows Sarah with her second husband Benedict Boone and family including her daughter Airy Schroeder, and her mother, Ann Belt. See FindaGrave for St. Mark's Cem., Petersville, Fredk. Co., MD. [That has the wrong birth year for Sarah; she was born 19 Nov. 1797, not in 1802.] FindaGrave says that Sarah m. Benedict Boone in 1826. The 1870 census also has A. [Arabella] Schroeder, 51, as well as Henry Schroeder, 49, & family with Benedict Boone, 75. Henry Belt Schroeder had married Priscilla Boone before the census of 1850. He was a West Point graduate and served in the Mexican War, but he resigned his commission and returned to his farm when the Civil War began. Family word of mouth says he may have been divorced, could have had a son, and the mother & son moved to KC but US Census says widowed 1910. I am searching for any leads on the family of Dora Ruth Belt. The only info I have is that she was born around 1879, was a servant in the Millikan household in 1900, married William Lynn in January 1901, and had 4 children, one of whom was my great grandmother, Brunell Lynn (Madden). The Belt family is very prevalent in the Crittenden, KY area. I believe she may be of some relation to the Millikans. I have no idea when she died and I cannot find her past the 1900 census. With all the intermarriage of the Belt, Mullikin. Duvall families, I am SO confused! I agree with all of the Belt family lines posted on Ancestry and Rootsweb until I get to Tobias Belt and Mary Gorden's daughter.RACHEL BELT. The ones on Rootsweb have her married to John Wilkes Pratt. My records and family history has her married to ELISHA DUVALL. Ancestry.com has marriage records of that marriage. They had one child SOPHIA DUVALL. After Elisha died Rachel married John Lucus and had a number of children. SOPHIA DUVALL married JAMES MARRIOTT OF of Maryland. I have no record of this marriage other than family records. I am hoping I can resolve the marriage of Rachel Belt. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
