The name of his second wife remains a mystery to me. The Marriage information for Sutton E. & Abigail was found in a book titled "Marriages of Wilson County, TN 1802-1850. Compiled by Edythe Rucker Whitley. Genealogical Publishing Co. 1981 James Ellis was listed as best man. Less than 4 months later James married Rebecca, Sutton's sister. Born in Virginia, I would guess in Amelia County. Married Abigail Ellis in 1817 Sutton was named Guardian of William. Ulsey, Jacob and Richard G. minor heirs of Richard Belcher Decd. (QCR, 1833-1836, p. 383) The following entry was recorded in the 1860 TN Census for Wilson County. Belcher, S.E., 66, Abigal H. 65, Richard D. 23, Polly Ellis 52, John A. Johnson 10, & George W. Eubanks 23. I would think that Richard D. would be their son and Polly would be Abigal's mother. He died August 28, 1866 in Wilson County Tennessee. His tombstone can be found on the Belcher farm, Trousdale Ferry Pike, across the creek from the Bethlehem Cemetery. While not proven yet, it appears that Sutton and Abigail also had a son named JAMES E. BELCHER. JAMES E. BELCHER made his Will December 5, 1854, and it was proved March 5, 1855 ( W&I, 1852--1856, P. 342F) He mentions: (1) wife, Sarah F. Belcher (2) my two children, John P. Belcher, and my infant daughter, yet unnamed (3) father, S.E. Belcher (4) executor, father S.E. Belcher Witness were D.V. Seay and H.A. Goodall QCR= Quarterly Court Record (QCR, 1852-1856, January 8, 1856,p.558) the following entry is found: Petition of S.E. Belcher - ex parte - It appears that before his death, James E. Belcher made his will in which he directed that he wished his father, petitioner S.E. Belcher, should take Negro man named ALLEN. Euell E. Belcher EEB60@aol.com
