He married Frances Elvira Hubbard on 7 Apr 1841 in Russell County Virginia. Children were Mary Ann, Brom, Polly, Samuel, Lucy Catherine, Cynthia A., William Parker and an unnamed child. John T. fought for the Confederacy a short time, then about 1868, he and his wife left Virginia after being urged by brother Joseph, of Old Bloomfield, in Macon Co. Missouri, to join them. They traveled first overland, then finally by boat to Glascow, Missouri. There John T. left his wife, a cousin Lowery Cox or brother Lowery Hubbard (some say) and children Polly, Ann, Cynthia A. William Parker, Samual, Mary Catherine and Brom, while he walked to Macon Co. to get another wagon. Upon returning, John T. found his wife, Elviry and unnamed son had died of cholera. Lowery Cox(?) buried them on the banks of the Missouri River. Sometime in the early 1870's John T. fell into a well, then died of his injuries. The children, left to themselves, worked at various jobs. One, Peter, for a mortician, Lucy Catherine for relatives for board and keep.
