--WebTV-Mail-19768-3874 Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Hi, Doug-- This sounds highly probable. I think the article said 40 went on to the the area which became the town of RIFFE,,,,it that is so, where did the other 20 go? Did I understand this right? I am hoping for some knowledge of a list or something to reveal who all did come to WA in 1893.....might aswer a lot of questions 'What happened to the siblings, aunts, uncles" and "Did they take much -sought -after family Bibles and records/papers with them." Wonder if it was an entire congregation, part of one, or just a group of people wanting better, more fertile land. Possibly some more descendants of BELCHERS, ETC. from this area will see these messages and get in touch. I had not thought about doing any research in this area....perhaps next summer I will make a trip into that area and do some "digging"..Maybe there is historical data there in that county. Snow is just about upon us here. I have an ancestor named David Bishop that mar. Elizabeth Belcher in 1866 in McDowell Co. WV and then mar. Effie Crittser Sampson in 1897 in Stevens Co. WA and divorced by 1903. He then mar. Sarah F. Holmes Peterson in 1906. He died in 1924 in Riverside Co. CA. In 1880 he and Elizabeth Belcher were living in Greenbrier Co. WV. I just wondered if he could have been with the congregation of Mr. Riffe that went to Riffe Lake area? Thanks, Doug Bishop PAYNE FAMILY wrote: > > --WebTV-Mail-28079-4562 > Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII > Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit > > HI, Larry... > Good morning... if this only helps you end that dry spell the value is > really there.
