I have the Belcher book that everyone is talking about, also. Do you happen to know if there is a Nelson Belcher Harry's files anywhere??????? I can trace my line back to him (my GGGrandfather), he was born in New York around 1836-9, and I hit a wall there. I do not know his parents names for sure, POSSIBLY John and Polly. I would be forever grateful if you could check for him in any of Harry's files, please! Barb >

Does anyone have any relatives from the state of Wyoming, around the 1920's? Thanks, Georgie
Hi All, The gentleman you are talking about is Harry Belcher who died this past year. He kept all of his files on index cards and he had the NEHGS in Boston pick them up to preserve them. There were 2 prominent Belchers who came to the States about the same time, Gregory (my line) and Jeremiah (I believe). I believe Trudy Belcher in WA has kept the line of Jeremiah going and Harry told me that they kept in touch sending each other info on each others lines. If I can help, please let me know. Sue/Serena, I have a note that I am descended from one of the 2 brothers per a Mr. Belcher who lived in or near Ipswich, MA. He died about 5 years ago. He told me that the 2 brothers came over about the same time and settled in two areas, one being Ipswich. Since he was descended from one of them, he ended up having to keep track of the other's descendants to keep them straight. I am told that his card file with about 5000 cards was donated to a library in the area, but have no way of getting information from it. Or where it is. My mother was a Belcher. Does anyone have ancestors from MA? I haven't come across too many that are. :( Jeremy Belcher b. 1613. came to New England in 1635 and settled in Ipswich. d. in March 1692-3. I have ancesters named Belcher that are from Mass. My great grandfather's name was William Belcher Glazier. He was born in 1827 in Hollowell Me. His father Franklin Glazier was born in 1799 in Oakham, Ma. His wife was Julia Tarbox whose father was Eleizer Tarbox, whose mother was Mary Belcher of Mass. Her father was Richard Belcher and his father was Jeremy (Jeremiah) Belcher. Jane
Jeremy and Jeremiah are the same person. He was the original immigrant. My line is from him. His son Richard married Ruth Knight and their daughter Mary Belcher, married Joseph Tarbox. Their son Eliezer Tarbox married Phoebe Stackpole and their daughter, Julia Tarbox married Franklin Glazier, my gr gr grandfather. Do you see any connection ? I have a chapter from a book about the Belcher family and if you give me names I can look them up for you. Jane
Pat, I have copies of the Belcher Family Book and it says that nothing is known of his ancestry... that's where I'm stuck... :) Serena
Hi Sue, Haven't been able to do much genealogy for a long time, just work, work, work. We took such a bath on the business that now we have to play catch up. Nice seeing your name occasionally. I'll try and keep in touch a little better than I have. Hi I'm a descendant of the Gregory Belcher (b in England ) came to MA in 1635. I have quite a lot of info on these Belchers but don't know of a Jeremy. There was a Jeremiah that came to the states around that same time I believe, and maybe Jeremy is a nickname. Hi Todd, Is there a connection in SC,CA ARK OK and/ Tex.?? My direct line came to SC from Va prior to the Rev. War some moved on to Tenn prior to the Civil War, others to GA with the usual migration across the deep south into Texas. The largest numbers were after the Civil War. What names were common in the census records in close proximity to yours? Brannon,Blackwell,Bishop,Seay,Barnett,Thompson are commonly found with my Belchers. Let me know if you think I can help. Good luck and happy hunting!!! Mary Jane mwoman1948@aol.com

Hi Joyce, I am sorry I don't have that info. I had all my updates on my laptop and didn't back it up for a week. It crashed yesterday. But I don't think I had any siblings of Peter. I will be going through all my hard copies and updating Family Tree Maker on my big computer this week. So I will keep your email and if I come across Nancy I will let you know. I will also send you the Belcher website as soon as I find it again. I have a zip drive upstairs. I'm going to learn to use it now!!! Rickie L.
