Hello, I'm looking for info on a one Bart Belcher b. 1911 in Pike CO. KY In 1938 he was listed as a Coal Miner. If any one has any knowledge of the Belchers in Belcher KY or in and around Pike CO. Please ask around for me I'm trying to make a connection with him and Rushie (Rushia) Belcher b.September 07, 1918. He is listed on my Mother's birth record. Her name is Sylvia b. March 13,1938. I know this would of been real hush, hush. But I figure someone out there has to know something. I was raised to think that Mark Belcher was my papaw. I do know there where two bart Belchers born that year in Pike Co. It is rumored that it might be a close cousin or a possible sibling of Mark. Please contact me if you can help. Thanks in advance. Cynthia

Thank you for your snail mail address. I have one more thing to copy before the envelope will be mailed. Do you have the date of the will? Does the way it reads suggest to you that he was "from"/born in Savannah or "from"/ lived there at the time of the will.
Hello Chuck runyon, If you find out about these two, let me know. PLEASE!! I descend through their daughter Lydia who married James H Marcum. What about you? I have Collins H. BELCHER who married Rebecca Gilpin December 07, 1813 in Columbia Co.,GA. Please keep my Collins H. BELCHER in mind as you search through the BELCHER line. I have a will that lists him as husband of Rebina Belcher and that he was from Suvannah, GA but haven't been able to tie anything to that information. Regards, Patricia Camp-Mullis

My Belcher was Kesiah Belcher and she married Samuel W. Wells in Mississippi but I found Samuel W. Wells listed in Franklin County Georgia in 1820 2 years before he married Kesiah Belcher I think he was married before to Frances Foster because I found a marriage record for Samuel W. Wells dated December 14, 1814. Anyway I think I may be getting closer to my Belcher's. I will keep on trying. Soni
Sorry, I don't have anything on him, but I'll keep your message, in case somebody else writes to me about him. Karen B

I see there is a Matthew Belcher from Oglethorpe Co. Georgia. It says his father was Francis Belcher. My great-grandmother was named Francis Pathena Wells (her grandparents were Belcher's) I am thinking maybe Matthew and his wife Alcey had a daughter named Kesiah. When she married she had a daughter and named her Virginia which was Francis Pathena's mother. Now if I can just get information on this family Matthew Belcher I might be on the right track. Thanks Soni

Hi, all. I am new to the list, & am researching Belchers from Russell, Tazewell, & Buchanan Counties in VA. There may also have been some members of this family in Pike County, KY. The direct line I am researching is: Will Belcher [1892-1973] (m Charlotte Taylor) son of General Lee Belcher [est b @1865] (m Nancy Jane Lee) son of George C Belcher [est b @1845] (m Matilda Lester) son of Samuel H Belcher [b 1818] (m Nancy Maddax) son of John Belcher [1794-1877] (m Mary Monk) son of Jesse Belcher [est b @1770](m Elizabeth Roberts) I haven't proved all of this myself yet, & the oldest generations are based mainly on information I found in books, on microfilm records, or got from other researchers. I live in NJ (this is my late husband's family), & I haven't been able to get to VA to do courthouse research. If you are researching these lines, I'd like to exchange information with you. Any additions or corrections would be welcome. I also have some information on the families of Nancy Jane Lee & Charlotte Taylor, named above. Thanks for any help you can give, Karen Belcher
