    1. Belcher Researchers
    2. Hello everyone, I have a wonderful idea and it would be great for all to participate by contributing your Belcher line of descent to you. I believe this will open a door for those researching the same line and interests. It will also be a helpful tool in our research besides finding new cousins and having a little fun. Just send your lists of descent to belcher-l@rootsweb.com as I am and it will circulate to everyone on the lists. I have two connections: Belcher Descent Line ( two connections ) First connection: Hugh Belcher m-Havis Belson John Belcher m-Elizabeth Saunders Edmund Belcher m-Emma Wyrley William Andrew Belcher m-Elizabeth Randes Sanders Henry Thomas Belcher m-Mary Mitchell William Thomas Belcher m-Tabitha Bartlett Robert G. 1. Rebecca Belcher Stewart
    2. Richard Carlyle Stewart
    3. Hello - I had a good lead on my gg grandmother Rebecca (Belcher) Stewart but found out it wasn't her. Out of all these Belchers in SW Va and WVa, poor ol' Rebecca had to have parents. She and husband Elias Stewart are on the 1850 and 1860 Mercer Co. censuses and the 1870 and 1900 Boone Co. censuses-Va/WVa. Rebecca died in 1900 in a car wreck in Racine, WVa. She was born in Jan, 1828 per the 1900 Boone census. There is one oddity that might be a lead. In the 1850 Mercer census, she is listed as Ina Stewart. In 1860, it was Rebecca J. Stewart. Her daughter Martha died of scarlet fever in 1850s and her mother is listed as Rebecca. Ina was listed as her mother on the 1850 census. Ina and Rebecca have to be the same person. Any info would be sincerely appreciated. Richard Stewart

    3. Hello - I've been hunting for my gg grandmother Rebecca Belcher's parents for awhile now. I received a possible lead yesterday. Does anyone have a Thomas Belcher b. 1803 in Va marr. Mary Gill b. 1807 in Tenn. One account says Mary Gill was born in NC. In any event they had a daughter Rebecca Jane Belcher born 15 Jun 1826. This may be my gg grandmother. Does anyone know of this family? She was a first cousin "once-removed" to Micajah Belcher - meaning her father Thomas and Micajah were first cousins? Rebecca married Elias Stewart in Mercer/Giles area of Va/WVa and lived in Mercer Co. until moving to Boone Co. in 1860s. Thank you. Rick Stewart

    3. Hello - My gg grandmother was one Rebecca Belcher born circa 1825 to 1828 in Southwest Va. She first appears on the 1850 Mercer Co. Va/WVa census along with my gg grandfather Elias Stewart. She and Elias had 13 children. They moved to Boone Co., WVa in the mid-1860s. Some of the children were Giles Wesley, William L., John H., George W., James H., Micajah Preston, Elias (Eli), Martha, Mary Ann, Frances E., and Ida-all Stewarts. Elias Stewart was born and lived up to the mid-1860s in the Giles/Mercer area. I am assuming Rebecca lived in that vicinity. She died in an automobile accident in Racine, Va. in 1900. There are Belchers living near them in Boone Co., and I assume they must be related to Rebecca. They are as follows: Green, son of John and Jemima Belcher; Henry, son of John and Jemima; John and Jemima Belcher; John, son of Henry and Annie Belcher. John Belcher, b. Jan 1834 was the son of Micajah and Malinda Belcher. Jemima was the daughter of Berry and Rh! oda Cau ley. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone. I am seeking Rebecca's parents. Thanks. Richard Stewart

    3. Here's a wild stab in the dark I am trying to locate some Belchers on my husband's side: My husbands great grandmother Elizabeth Belcher b. ca. 1880-1890 VA (assumed) who married Charles Edgar Brown between 1900-1910. They were coal miners and I think they were from Kanawha Co., WV. My husband's grandmother is still living but does not remember much other than her parents names. So you see I do not have much to go on or to work with but guessing. If anyone out there knows ANYTHING, please let me know so I can start somewhere. Thanks in advance, Marcia

    1. Belcher in Illinois c. 1900
    2. I am looking for information on an ancestor named Mae Samaria BELCHER. Our family believes her mother's maiden name was SANDERS/SAUNDERS. We also believe that Mae had at least two sisters, Maggie & Kate. Mae's children were born roughly between 1900 and 1905, so I estimate she was born circa 1880. As an adult, she lived in southern Illinois (and possibly southern Indiana) and was married at least two times, once to Prentiss HARTLEY, and later to Howard CLOSE. It is possible that her first husband was a PETERSEN / PETERSON. If anyone can help, I would be most grateful! Thanks in advance!
