As for Jesse's parents...what proof do we have that he was a son of John & Charity (Harger) Beckelhymer? According to the Harger will, Charity was dead before 1822...so we couldn't find a census report on her. Did you ever find a birth certificate for Jesse? I didn't. There was also a marriage shown for a Martin Beckelhymer in Fulton, IL. Do you know anything about him? Was he possibly a brother to Jesse? In John Harger's will, he gave his son-in-law John Beckelhymer $1. If there had been children of this marriage, isn't it odd he didn't show them as heirs in his will?
