At the risk of sticking my neck out, I have posted the new Behymer home page on the web! It can be reached at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/JohnDoeTippet/. Keep in mind, however, that I am only a novice html programmer at this point, so the page is devoid of pretty pictures, animations etc. (I figure the bells and whistles can come later - in particular, I would like to add some scanned images of key source material). I believe the page is functional, however, and will serve this mailing list well in having a single repository for the "accepted" version of the Behymer genealogy. Of course, this first version is far from the "accepted" version, which I hope it will evolve into after inputs from this mailing list. I have not researched the Behymer family for nearly as long as some of the others on this list, such as Rob Dupuy, Sallye Gundy, Tom Robison and others, so I hope that the meagre amount of data in this first posting won't offend anyone's intelligence, especially those die-hard Behymer/P'Simer researchers among you. This initial posting includes only the first 3 generations of the descendants of Elder John Behymer (aka Johan Georg Behymer). Once we have corrected this version (or at least annotated it sufficiently to everyone's satisfaction), I will add the fourth generation, and then the fifth and so on. Included is an index of sources that references where my data comes from. Note, however, that I have not completed attaching my sources to these 1st three generations, in particular, most of the data for the 1st two generations comes from the book: The Picklesimers of Eastern Kentucky by John Wayne and John Walter Picklesimer. Where you find data without a reference, it most likely came from this source. As corrections come in, I will also be hard at work filling in the missing sources. As far as the discussion on what name to use for this web page, I am afraid that with over 60 different variations of Behymer on record, I opted to use my own name for the home page, instead. My home page is linked to the Behymer genealogy. I did it this way because in the future, I may want to add some of the other families that I am working on. In the Behymer genealogy, I do not distinguish between all of the variations of the family name. To keep it simple, I have used: Beckelhymer throughout. If you think it is important to use the version of the name that a given individual used most often, I can change it, but let's get a concensus on this first. If you find this web page useful, please bookmark my home page, rather than the Behymer page that it is linked to, as it contains a counter so we can see how many "hits" are generated. That will allow me to assess how much interest there is in all this. Lastly, a request: keep in mind that I am only a willing volunteer in this project, so please don't attack the messager. Repeating myself, I am not an expert in this field. but I find it an interesting pastime and will do my part to help document the family history to everyone's satisfaction.
