Rick: We really need to figure out how all the various David Beckelhymers fit in. My infomation shows the following Davids: (1) David Picklehimer who married Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Ebeneazer Smith on 18 Jun 1794 in Montgomery County, VA (John Wayne and John Walter Picklesimer in their book: "The Picklesimers of Eastern Kentucky" say that all 3 of them are living in Campbell County, KY in 1810 per the census enumeration, and that this David later moved to Floyd County, KY where he married Sarah Prater) (2) David PekelSimer who married Sarah (Sally) Moore circa 14 Jun 1802 in Franklin County, VA (3) David Picklesimer who married Sarah Prater on 15 Apr 1817 in Floyd County, KY (4) David Peckelsimer who married Elizabeth Sailor circa 15 Jan 1802 in Franklin County, VA (5) David Beckelhymer who died in Clermont County, OH circa Jul 1818 with likely wife, Elizabeth, listed as administrator of his estate (6) David Beckelhymer who was a brother of Samuel, both sons of John, Sr, who supposedly "stayed in VA, not coming to OH" per Aaron Sargeant Behymer in his diary (7) David Beckelhymer, cousin of Jonathan Behymer per the Nauvoo Temple Baptisms for the Dead I believe that it is highly likely that the David who was the cousin of Jonathan, was the David who died in Clermont County in 1818, and that he was the son of John Beckelhymer, Jr and Barbara Weddle, as John, Jr would have been the only brother likely to have been old enough to have had a married son, David dying in 1818. As David's likely wife was listed as Elizabeth, it would seem that this David was then either the David who married Elizabeth Smith or the one who married Elizabeth Sailor. Now the David who married Elizabeth Smith was born circa 1772 per John Wayne and John Walter Picklesimer and between 1765 and 1784 per the 1810 census enumeration. That would make him too old to have been the son of John, Jr. Consequently, I am lead to the tentative conclusion that the David Beckelhymer who married Elizabeth Sailor was the son of John, Jr and Barbara Weddle and that he died in 1818 in Clermont County, OH. The David who was a close brother to Samuel per Aaron Behymers diary would likely have been born about the same time as Samuel, who was born in 1763. Now, the David who married Elizabeth Smith seems to be the only David old enough to have been that close brother to Samuel, although they would still have been about 9 years apart in age (based on John Wayne and John Walter's birth date of 1772) but could have been much closer in age based on the 1810 census (I assume he was born circa 1865). Your theory regarding Smith Behymer also fits in with this David being a brother to Samuel. True, this David did not move to Clermont County, OH, however, he didn't exactly stay in VA, either as he was living just across the Ohio River in Campbell County, KY. In any event, as he wasn't in Clermont, Aaron Sargeant probably would not have had that much recollection of him, in particular, where he was living. Does anyone have any more information on this David? It seems that he must have been alive circa 1840; otherwise he would likely have been listed in the Nauvoo Temple Baptisms for the Dead as a brother to Jonathan. Until more information comes in, I am tentatively assuming that the David who married Elizabeth Smith was the close brother of Samuel (John Walter Picklesimer: what say you to this?) John Walter and John Wayne Picklesimer make a pretty good case that the Abraham and David Picklesimer who were the founders of the Eastern Kentucky branch of the family were brothers, and they also show a close tie-in between Abraham and Jacob, Sr. Consequently, I am tentatively assuming that the David who married Sarah Prater and who was born circa 1772 per John Wayne and John Walter Picklesimer was the son of Jacob, Sr. However, I am not assuming that this David had previously married Elizabeth Smith. I wonder what data John Wayne and John Walter have to substantiate the two marriages, first to Elizabeth Smith and second to Sarah Prater. That leaves the David who married Sarah Moore. By a process of elimination, I am left with the WAG that he was the son of Abraham, Sr and Christina. I welcome comments on any or all of this educated guessing. ---------- > From: Rick Phillips <Edwin-P@worldnet.att.net> > To: BEHYMER-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: An Incredible Breakthrough > Date: Monday, April 12, 1999 10:53 AM > > Great work John! > > As far as I can tell, the information you have unearthed is entirely > consistent with the unifying of all the Picklesimer/Behymer families. > It looks like there are two new children of John Sr.: Susan (from Book > A,p.18), and Abraham. > > I was very curious about the Smith Behymer mentioned in book C p. 13. > Since Jonathan was an uncle, is it possible that this Smith is the son > of David Sr. b. 1772, and Elizabeth Smith of Montg.
